Why I Stopped Blogging
When I started this blog, I’d just left Firebelly (a studio I’d dedicated 5 years of my life to) and I was completely uncertain about my future. My original thinking was: if I have a place to spend at least 15 minutes thinking/writing/sharing every day, I’ll have something constant (and fun) where I can share my point of view and other stuff I find along the way.
Five months later, I was working full-time for gravitytank and had pretty much abandoned my daily posts. But I can’t blame the new gig entirely! Truth be told, my neglect spawned from new distractions that were simply more fun than sitting at my computer: the weather was warming up, I was running again, DJing out with friends, barbecuing, riding bikes, working on little side projects and traveling to Atlanta and Puerto Rico.
Now that I’m back in town, settled in and settled down, I really want to get back to writing. As long as it’s fun, I want to post at least weekly. My writer/strategist friend Michael Kiser just gave me some great pointers on writing more consistently and some simple tips to keep things loose, fun and inspired…. I’ve also enlisted the talents and perspectives of a few close collaborators so stay tuned for ghost writers, guest writers and anonymous tipsters!
I supposed I could’ve just quoted Rakim and Ice Cube and saved myself some time:
I just installed WordPress 3.0 and already it feels good to be back!
